Blackberry Price war

GSM networks in Nigeria have embarked on a BlackBerry price war to encourage mobile subscribers to convert to their networks.

In an apparent response to other networks in the country, Airtel Nigeria has introduced a new a new BlackBerry bundle – BConnected.
The BConnected bundle offers BlackBerry Messenging (BBM), as well as access to social networks, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. It also offers access to monthly, weekly or daily plans on the expiration of a 30-day free trial period.
The bundle is priced at N1,580 (about $11) monthly and excludes e-mail services which most other BlackBerry services include. The current price is significantly less than the cost of the standard service which includes an e-mail service.
The standard service is priced between N2 800 and N3 000 (about $20) by various other networks, including Airtel.

Etisalat and the "so hard not yet trending #nigerianidol and #easynet"

If you follow @etisalat_9ja on twitter you would notice that they are trying so hard to make #nigerianIdol and #easynet a trending topic. They should just chill for a second. Well I know that they are giving out blackberry phones in Naija here that is not the way to go. We still have a long way to go on following twitter the only one who was such a trending topic last month was sarah jubril during the election not winning blackberry phone and voting for some contestant. If they want to make it tops lets retweet and be a fan of facebook then you would see it as a trending topic. That is the method TechCrunch uses for any giveaway.

Mobile Service Providers in Nigeria

The four main mobile phone network in Nigeria. I am referring to MTN, Glo, Airtel and

Etisalat. All are competing for customers. I never knew mtn would join the race. Their products were all *link till they joined and instead of informing customers about the change, they just moved you to the similar ‘*go’ they have now.

They have gotten more than half of Nigeria. However most Nigerians have to phones. The major line which their contacts know them with and the one that the tariff suits them. Well mine is MTN and any line that the tariff suits me. How about you?
